Celestial Bodies, written by Omani author Jokha Alharthi and translated from Arabic in to English by Marilyn Booth, was published by Sandstone Press in 2018. My copy was a 2019 reprint of the paperback edition. The original text was published in Arabic in 2010.
This was a story of a group of families, related by blood and marriage, over many generations and an insight in to perceptions of love, the varying rights afforded to people in Oman in the 20th century and the function of marriage. There were poetry excerpts throughout the book, also translated.
