Just the Plague by Ludmila Ulitskaya was translated from the original Russian by Polly Gannon and published in 2021 by Granta.

This story is based on an actual event in the Soviet Union in the 1930s. A reflection on life in a nation state where people disappear, taken away by the secret service, it felt very pertinent to current events and it was also a reflection on infectious disease and the way it spreads. A quick read, I finished this book in a day but will think about it for a lot longer.
