Published by Pushkin Press in 2020 and originally published in 2018, Learning to Talk to Plants by Marta Orriols was translated from Catalan by Mara Faye Lethem.

When I recall this novel, which I finished earlier this month, I feel quite tender towards the protagonist, Paula. The book relates her vulnerablility as she grieves for a man who has given her a big shock but it is always more honest than depressing. I'm still rooting for Paula weeks later and that's surely the mark of a novel that's left an impression.
